I would personally be more concerned about the inability to type in a custom emote than be unable to do a slash command for standard emotes. While a lot of them look really fab (albeit a few are over the top!), sometimes only a custom emote will do. 
Hopefully they will have things sorted by release and if not, well there's always the beloved asterisk. :approve:
