You made a good choice, my friend! To answer your questions, yep it's that simple. They just need to exist and you just have to wait the three days to transfer. If you decide to level or craft, you can transfer items and gil (up to 1-2mil I believe) along with your character. My advice is that if you might be an altaholic like some of us here, you can transfer a bunch of characters all in one for the same price, basically 8 for 1.
You can post a profile on the Making Connections forums, where you can advertise your character and look for different types of roleplay. You can also make a wiki, you can find guides on how to here (amongst other things).Â
Regarding the name, if there is already a character that exists with the name on the server you're transferring to, you are offered a free name change. Hope this helps! See you on Balmung!
