I did it for TTT2 Because I respect harrada's views on how a game handles content. (Not to mention the game was generous with content. And a great game overall.) Knowing that I could have my main (who was free content regardless of pre-order or not) Day one with no wait? That was a no brainer. So essentially I need: To respect the developer And be sold on incentive.
