In all honesty, I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer. I think ARR will introduce us to a whole lot of new nommy lore in action that 1.0 was lacking--for all the races!

I wanted to be a Seeker from the start and was dismayed when I found (after making a throwaway account to investigate naming patterns) that they didn't allow for apostrophes in names. F'lhaminn's round irises were what gave me the rationale to give my Seeker a Keeper-like name instead.

If F'lhaminn's appearance was a mistake, my entire world would crumble. So it can't be a mistake. It can't!

But seriously, considering that she is the only outlier out of all NPCs and given her relative importance in the story, I'm inclined to believe that it's intentional. The FMV Miqo'te, at least, has the excuse of being created by a different team during a different development phase.

That may be overthinking it a little. We are in a Fantasy World and that genetiv problem might not even exist or apply to it. It might also be possible that the children of those harems be it males or females have to leave the clan when they become of age and find themselves a new one.

The seekers nuhn probably have a lot of responsibilitys and uhm duties. So I would think that those won't travel too much and stay with their clan most of their time. The males who still have to prove themselves are more likely to choose the adventuring path.

As I understand it from the naming lore the keepers don't really have nuhn and their culture is a lot more based on the normal family.

I think a clanleader couldn't afford the "distraction" of a huge harem and still be able to lead. Maybe he chooses his females more carefully and keep their numbers quite low.

I didn't find any infos about that but I think not. The cultures are split and we can only guess about how it happened but there doesn't need to be any tension. They may just respect each other for what they became.

Â I strongly think so. Fighting and Hunting skills are highly valued and should be deeply entwined into their culture. They need to have some kind of festival where the males can prove themselves apart from occasional challenges.

The artstyle from what CassandraJean showed us already goes into the right direction. I really like what I have seen so far. May be a little less curves and more nooks and edges.

I would still think it would pose a problem. You'd end up with successive large same-age groups of Miqo'te who would all be closely related. Then, after a couple of nuhns had been in place, keeping track of who came from what father would be tricky.

But, yeah, as Rhashi said it IS fantasy so none of this may be a problem at all. It's still icky to me though! lol

Exactly. Which is why it's going to be disappointing if we get an influx of extremely traditional-tribal Miqo'te if the tribal behavior is more of a thing of the past for them and they simply held on to the naming traditions.

The wording of the lore post suggests to me that this culture is not only in the past but alive and well now. My thought is that there are many miqo'te clans that live on their own apart from the large cities and still follow this lifestyle.Â

Miqo'te who are adventurers and so have a greater experience of the world, as well as Miqo'te would live in the cities (perhaps for generations), could well have cast off many of these traditions to mix in better with the other races. There are examples of Miqo'te marrying and having monogamous relationships in 1.0.

I'd expect that adventurers as a whole would run the gamut of culture. With some extremely traditional and others completely adjusted to city culture.
