I was told to make one of these in spite of how uncomfortable I feel doing so ;;;; So I'll try to keep it short I guess.

I'm quite new to this forum(only joined yesterday evening) and to the Final Fantasy franchise in general. I have barely ever looked at any of the previous games before because honestly I cannot say that I was overly interested in these types of games.
The only game I actively play these days would be Vindictus which is actually where I was first introduced into trying out RP'ing, something I would have never imagined myself doing. It turned out to be really fun, even though it was a much smaller environment with just myself and two other people RP'ing throughout the set storyline and our own added snippets. I'm not very good at it but I had two really amazing writers to learn from so I kept trying ^^

Actually, truth be told the only reason I am here is because a friend of mine bribed me into trying this game solely because of the RP x.x" I'm not even entirely sure what the gameplay is like nor if my laptop can even run the game with decent graphics but.... RP..... ;-;

I actually managed to drag that out a little longer than expected, ehehe... thank you for reading and I'm sorry for the boring post ^^ From the little I have seen of this community so far, I must say I am impressed. It's definitely one of the most mature and nicest forums I have ever stumbled across(as far as first impressions go at least but I have a feeling it won't be limited to just that! ^^).

Welcome! Hope you enjoy yourself as well as your experience with FFXIV! Start reading up on Eorzea and its history (the wiki on this site is a solid reference to begin with) to get a taste of what's in store. But keep in mind there is much more to the world of Hydaelyn than traditions and complicated histories - endless possibilities await those who come in!

If you don't mind me asking, have you tried running the official benchmark on the computer you intend to play off of? (Benchmark Link)

Hehe, I tried to a little already as opposed to making such a topic but I guess there was nothing to be worried about ^^" And no, I haven't tried the benchmark, I had completely forgotten about such a feature. Thank you very much for linking it to me, I'm downloading it as we speak.

The only thing I had to go on was CanYouRunIt? which I am doubtful is an entirely reliable indicator. Nevertheless, it said I was above the minimum requirements and hovering somewhere between there and the recommended.

I hope that won't mean I'd have to settle for lackluster graphics but I guess I can't expect everything ^^

Have you ever thought about playing it on the PS3? You could just pick up a usb keyboard and play it there and I don't think it will be hard finding a used PS3 for like 100 dollars. It should suffice, especially since PS3 and PC players are on the same servers.

I haven't touched that in a long time, but no ^^ I came here to play and RP with a friend of mine so buying the console version would defeat that purpose.

Welcome to the community! I'm new myself.

I actually had a very brief stint with Vindictus two or three years ago, but I didn't play for more than a few levels. I imagine the highly instanced nature of the game would have made for some interesting RP dynamics, although this is the first I've heard of RP on that game.Â

If you or your friends would like someone to write with sometime, or if you have any questions about characters or the lore, you can ask me if you'd like. I'm learning about the world as well, but I've picked up a lot just by following the news coverage of the game and reading the Final Fantasy wiki.
