(ok re located this here since its probally better to post this question here)

Ok exact rig is as such (Even the un important stuff)
Windows 7 64 bit premium
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Six Core 2.8 GHz
Asus Crosshair IV
Patriot Sector 5 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz
500GB SATA HardDrive
LG SATA DVDRW
Radeon 5770 Video Card
INwin c584 Case
ATC Case W/ Corsair 750 Watt

Im curious as to how this rig will preform. I am not interested in running the game in low res mode, call it picky. I'd like high ress mode as good as I can manage within reason.

I am thinking of upping my vid card to the Radeon 5850 and that is about as much as I can afford, the reg is going to cost about 1184 with the 5770 and add 150 to that if I switch to the 5850.

Any advice? Any nerds out there know their stuff?

So with my Radeon 5850 I ended up with a score of 4807 on low res mode. 17845 ms.

need a better moniter for high res mode, my tiny lil moniter couldn't even show me what score it got.

Update
Windows Vista
P4 2.66 Ghz
6 gigs ram
GTX 480 w/1.5 gigs ram

3278 on high quality

Should be noted there was never so much as a hitch in the display of the video.

I'm wondering if it will go faster without background process. I'd reinstalled Visa and had stuff installing in the background and such.

BTW when did video cards start becoming larger than the mother boards in computers? And by a significant amount.

I recently purchased a new GTX 460 GPU, and switched to windows 64 so I can use all my RAM
ran the benchmark

But scored lower than I did with my old GPU

Undecided

Maybe it's not optimized?

LOL

Yeah my first wake-up call on this was when I bought my 9800 GTX+ OC. I literally had to swap all of my internal components into an old but larger case just to fit all of it. My new 470 GTX is the same size, though, which is "nice". I mean... I'm glad they didn't get bigger...

The reason why? Well... video cards now are nearly as powerful as the main computer. nVidia cards handle not just graphics but also physics processing. Also since the GPUs run faster and therefore hotter, they need much more cooling than older cards, hence the huge fans.

What a ship really is, is freedom."

Yes. My GTX 480... bought it, it arrived in the mail and realized it would never fit in my case. Got a new one, and much better. Has four onboard fans, two to take in cool air and two to vent hot air, plus an internal cooling. But even with the larger case we couldn't save the wireless card because of HP's proprietary fixture for it.

I likely need to run an upgrade but I'm holding off until I can see how it performs. I'm not too keen on replacing motherboard and an AMD 2 core 3.0Ghz if I dont have to, since most games seem reluctant to take on the 3rd and fourth cores anyways. Of course if I really have to.....that i7 930 is looking pretty darn sweet.

I did get the benchmark to 2300 with an old dual core 3.0 and a new nvidia 460, which hopefully will be playable and allow me to see if further investments are warrented.
