Hello, and server status - Erice - 01-11-2015
I'm playing the free trial, so I only have a couple of weeks to decide if I'm interested in subscribing. I'm a long-time MMO player (and long-time FF console player) but a fairly recent recruit to the world of RP. (Until recently very active in The Secret World.)
My problem is: Balmung and Gilgamesh are closed. I tried last night when I set up the trial, and I tried again this morning when I assumed populations would be low. Several servers were available that hadn't been last night, but not the two RP servers.
Is there a time of day I'm likely to be able to create a character on Balmung? Is there a tertiary server for those locked out of the first two? I wouldn't especially mind waiting until I decide to subscribe before attempting to move to Balmung, but I probably won't end up subscribing if I can't get a feel for the RP first.
I'm on... oh, which am I on? Coerul right now as Erice Fae, but will be happy to switch to any available.
(Also: is there more server restriction on a trial account? I see that I'm limited to one character per server. Perhaps if I subscribe I'd have more chance to create on Balmung?)

I can tell you outright that subscribers don't get priority over free trials as far as server availability. We're all feeling the hell of chipping in to the server we wanna play on, I assure you.
As far as when to best try to get to Balmung or Gligy, your best bet would seem to be shortly after the end of weekly maintenance...which would require you to be up at a pretty ungodly hour of the morning. That said, this past maintenance did see Balmung yawning wide open for new arrivals for a few hours. Which was really stunning.
I know these aren't the greatest answers, but I hope they're helpful at the least. And if nothing else, I'd invite you to flutter around these here forums and get a feel for the RP community at large here. Specifically the Town Hall forum, which is all IC.

Trial players are in fact limited to one player per server.
From what I've read, the best time to slip in is Wednesday through Friday, in the small hours of the morning. I personally had a character on another server and after paying an $18 transfer fee, I switched to Balmung with no problem. It's more expensive but more certain.
