I find that Limsa Lominsa performs poorly because it is constantly loading in new data, even though I have gigs of free RAM it could use to to prevent that. The constant stuttering has convinced me that I MUST start in either Ul'dah or Gridania, both of which appear to have less stuff that needs loading or are just simply better-optimized all-around. FreelanceWizard Wrote:The interface lag is definitely directly related to this, which tells me that the issue may very well be related to the netcode or texture loading.I'm pretty sure it's the netcode. Every time the game pauses on a UI element everything around me freezes as the game waits for the data to come back from SE's servers, something that has become unbearable lately as some servers appear to have a FPS of approximately 1/5. I literally cannot do anything while it is frozen like this, including turning the camera (seriously, what? My camera controls are linked to the servers?), which shows just how badly the interface is dependent on a player's connection and the servers being good. Re: Can you run it? - BloodHecate - 09-12-2010 ![]() I'm nowhere near to having a dream computer, but I'm just happy to be able to play it. Re: Can you run it? - Emaraya - 09-12-2010 The best joke at this test: My graphic card meets all subrequirements, graphic RAM even by 300% in optimized but all in all it fails the minimum because it is an older card than the one in the list. If I fail in a test because my pen is from 1989 then I would say the test was not about skill. Re: Can you run it? - Soren Miren - 09-12-2010 >.> <.< My only regret is my motherboard doesn't want to acknowledge my additional 3 gigs of RAM. Re: Can you run it? - Freyar - 09-12-2010 I'd bet I'd fail on the CPU at home. It's a Q9550, before the Core iX's came out. Re: Can you run it? - Midge - 09-12-2010 Soren Miren, your rig is pretty much exactly like mine, although I have my CPU @ 3.6 Ghz, and it didn't seem to show that. In regards to the RAM issue, what is your MOBO? The X58 boards (for the i7s) have an issue detecting RAM that seems fairly widespread, I ran into a similar problem, but fixed it with a bit of troubleshooting. Re: Can you run it? - Emaraya - 09-12-2010 The simplest solution to the RAM issue is a good motherboard with full features and that doesn't mean it has to be expensive. I also have 4 GB RAM and get 3 at best. Reason is my motherboard is an older 690 and therefore doesn't have the BIOS function of memory remapping. Too bad. I've tried just about every suggestion, every configuring in the channels, and nothing seems to get the machine to recognize the full 9 gigs. The RAM sticks themselves are the same stats, same manufacturer, just different sets (3 1gb sticks as one set, 3 2gbs as another). Re: Can you run it? - Midge - 09-12-2010 Oh, I see then, it's the 3, 1gb sticks. The way I understand it, since the i7 has triple channel architecture: The architecture can only be used when all three, or a multiple of three, memory modules are identical in capacity and speed, and are placed in three-channel slots. So if those 1gig sticks were 2, you'd be good to go. My personal issue was that my mobo (Asus P6X58D-E) was detecting only 4 or 6 gigs of RAM. After I reseated my CPU and adjusted my CPU cooler, the problem hasn't reared it's ugly head. Re: Can you run it? - Momo - 09-14-2010 This may not be the place, but I am wondering if my set up will work if I will need to have a backup plan. I have a macbook that I will be playing on, and while it's ability to run the game is not the issue its ability to run the game without windows is. Parallels 5.0 is on the way, but just as I ordered it, I had some friends tell me that it may not help me in any way to run the game. I will be installing Windows 7 along with parallels in the hopes that the game will run off of it, but they were still concerned about it. Ideas or opinions anyone? I was wanting to put my mind at ease, but honestly I can instal it with bootcamp if I must as a last result...the only reason I didn't want to is because I don't really like windows and know I won't be using it for any other reason than to play this game so I didn't want to partition my hard drive just for that (however I will because I want to play this game so freakin bad my eyes are crossing). Anyways, thanks in advance for any advice or comments. ~Momo |
