RE: Pokemon Returning Player - Momo - 02-07-2016

You can beat the whole game with just about any decent team, you don't really need good stats, I just go down the list of pokemon that I can get, that I really like and make a team that way.  Most of the time though...I am stuck worrying I will get overly attached to a pokemon I caught early on, and be stuck with it no matter how mush I do or do not like that particular pokemon.

I am also sexist (on the subject of pokemon), so I only catch male pokemon if I can, unless there is no other choice. (Never gonna give up on you Chansey!)

I also catch one of every pokemon available in the game (I don't trade around unless I -must- have something in particular), which means one of each form too, so not only evolved forms.

When I get particularly bored...I choose a job or theme for my trainer, and make a team of pokemon around what fits with that theme, say...ice cream shoppe worker, or...aquarium specialist...herder...that sort of thing then pick lots of pokemon to go with that theme.  Gets me through, since I buy every version available of the game and play them all.

Still waiting on that Crystal remake though...>.>;;;

I only catch male Pokemon too. . .

Good to know I'm not alone lol, I just don't want to see that pink symbol by a Pokemon like Tyranitar.

What are you saying, bruh
Training your badass Dragonite in a Gen 1 game to 100, giving it the best moves, and a cool, masculine nickname before transferring it into a Gen 2 game to discover it's actually a female is priceless.

LOL

I remember I had caught a Onix once and thought they were genderless for the longest till I randomly saw the female sex symbol and went.

". . . How the f*ck is that a girl!?"

Such manly and Rocky features yet it's a girl. Wat.

Just like I refuse to have a male Kirlia or Goldeen.

I, for one, never doubted Gardevoir could be male.
Heck, its japanese name is Sirknight. SUCH A MANLY NAME.
If only it was possible, I'd have a male Gardevoir and a female Gallade just for laughs.

Lmfao that'd be the most backwards relationship I'd ever seen

RE: Pokemon Returning Player - Momo - 02-08-2016

So...I just need to say this: I was mainly joking, using the word sexist, but the resulting conversation which has followed is the flawed thinking that has pervaded the gaming industry since it's early inception.  I am not 12 anymore (nor when I was 12 did I have this view), so I don't think things that are inherently "boy-looking" must be boy, I simply only catch male pokemon, no deep reason why.

I am not a mod, but I am just encouraging that before you say the things that followed my statement, you think long about how a person of the opposite view of you would feel.  I will never agree that Tyranitar should be a boy only pokemon, nor Aggron, nor Machamp or any other "masculine" pokemon.  Pokemon is for all genders, and I think it has taken steps over the years to integrate that idea well, with both UI and supporting characters.

Sorry to get serious, I just wanted to clarify my view before continuing this.

RE: Pokemon Returning Player - Aaron - 02-08-2016

If people get sensitive about something as small as me talking about the gender of a Pokemon then they got their priorities in the wrong place.

Figured I needed to say my view on it also for clarity.

RE: Pokemon Returning Player - Warren Castille - 02-08-2016

Being alarmed at masculine depictions being revealed to be female sixteen years ago is serious business.

I catch pokes I like, but don't really care for gender. My mostly-male team in Gold got annihilated by Miltank's charm, and I have since learned my lesson.

That's why I only use legendary in online.

Genderless ftw
