if you can live with the outdated graphics you will find that the original is far more fun and engaging. Â There is a LOT more to do, from actively hunting/searching for UFOs to manufacturing weapons, armor, items, vehicles, aircraft and selling them for profit. Â On top of that if I remember correctly you can have up to 16+ units on a map. Â Did I mention you can have multiple bases too? 
EDIT: If you do play the original here is a tip. Research Motion Scanners first and manufacture them to sell. They give the biggest profit margin until you can manufacture laser cannons and then fusion ball launchers.
