Noxaelius doesn't care for pets and the only one he owns is his chocobo Rinia, who he cared for since she was a baby. He encountered her injured and abandoned out in the wilderness and initially walked past her, not caring if she lived or died, but she kept following him around despite her injuries so he took her home, thinking that it would be useful to have something to ride on anyway.Â
Unfortunately, he's not very good at chocobo caretaking. He tends to give her too many greens and alcohol to drink because that the only type of drink he owns. Since they live in Mist, she ends up having to drink the trench water (at least it seems clean?) beside the house. He also never takes her out to exercise and just lets her run by herself around the neighborhood, which always earns him a telling-off from the officers.
