Welp, housing is based on server economics.

In 2.1 largest house will cost 250-312.5mil on Balmung.
Smallest will cost 20-25mil.

Eh...yes. Suddenly I don't feel so much urge to buy one anymore. <.< 
Sad thing is, most of the guilds that are big/rich enough are sure not of RPers, most likely of endgame raiders....whom I doubt have any use for housing. I mean, those who want to fiddle with housing are those who like hanging around RPing and chatting, sure not those who spend their time farming money...

Those are FC houses, remember. Player houses will likely be cheaper, whenever they decide to implement those.

They had said personal houses about 6months after this patch minimum...and only maybe. Besides, I don't think FC housing should be something restricted to the big ones, I'd even dare say a tiny one for the basic operative functions should come for free with rank (and maybe with credits?), and big fancy ones for who wants more. And put personal housing as big luxury. But this is just my opinion, and I'm not even part of the big revolt that's coming out of this info ehehe.

Plot Pricing
The initial price of land at the release of patch 2.1 will vary depending on World population and economy. Prices are also affected by location, and there may be differences between plots of the same size.

Pricing logic seems to be like a page out of NCSOFTs playbook. "Hey all, we're going to make everything super expensive so you spend more time in game thus reassuring your subscription fee reaches our pockets. This reasoning is based on the higher gil circulation in your market because we were lazy in addressing the RMT issue."

But in order to save face..and make pretends...

"Purchasing land or housing using gil obtained from RMT (real money trading) or other illicit means is strictily prohibited. Any land or estate hall deemed to have been purchased through such means is subject to seizure."

Enter super inflation for everything unless you have multiple crafting classes.

I was sad to see the part where HQ leve turn-ins are getting hit with an XP reduction. My last few crafting classes have cried out as one, and were silenced Tongue

I will also miss having thunder on my SMN/SCH and CNJ. As she's 50 now I don't know that blizzard II will be a great replacement for my SMN or SCH, but at least the CNJ will get some use out of it.

The guaranteed interrupts on damage taken for spellcasting in PvP assures I won't be going over there either (unless I have misread this?). Ouch. 2.1 does not look to be Janna-friendly. Tongue

Absolutely ridiculous....I like the game but -not- that much. They are doing this as if they have an SWG type economy to support something like that.

I believe they're only doing that to counterbalance the increase in NQ turn-ins since the HQ turn-in is multiplicative of the NQ turn-in. But I may very well be wrong about that.

Uh I think so, but I'm honestly not that sad since...since I've always been bad at HQ Sad Mh wondering if the same applies for supply missions?

I have yet to read patch notes myself, but I didn't think they had touched all the classes and so much...and also some other things...everytime someone tells me about one these changes I stop breathing D:

Tons and tons of changes. Really, it's worth reading. Lots of good stuff! Higher tome cap (450), tomes from low and high level Duty Roulette, new instances, the Aesthetician (which will be accessible in your inn room).. the major cities as a whole are now Sanctuaries, MOST classes got buffs, PvP itself looks interesting with the bonus skills, new Main Story quests.. so much stuff.

The only thing that REALLY upsets me is the ludicrous, stupid-high player housing costs. As has been said, only the richest could afford these, ESPECIALLY the high-end plots/sizes of plot.

It's like they want to force players to actually merge large clusters of FCs! That's what's gonna happen, you know. People are gonna make new Linkshells to represent what their FC used to be, all the while merging into massive organizations JUST to be able to pool resources for a house. 20 million for the cheapest, smallest plot of land on Balmung? 312 million for the biggest? What? I know some players are millionaires, and I'm happy for them... but even they would have to sink their entire fortunes (or close to it) to have the desired impact.
