RE: 2.1 Patch Notes - Ildur - 12-14-2013 I think it is quite clear that Squee's intention is to use housing as a huge gil sink, except they a doing it wrong. The smallest houses should be accesible to all FCs, while medium and big plots should be the ones were considerable investment is needed. But even then the greatest investment of housing should come in furnishing the place. Not to mention the current pricing is probably going to kill any furniture crafting enterprises (if that was going to be a thing, anyway). The purpose is clearly erasing gil from the economies, but also to give players a stupidly long term goal. Because, you know, having a broken economy means the only reliable way of makingmoney will be grinding mobs. And that is something that will keep your players playing and subscribing for three months, as long as you give them the correct carrot. Or in this case, housing. It will also melt their brains, increasing the chances that they will keep subscribing and accepting all your shitty design choices! On a more positive note: at least we will have three new urban areas to roleplay in! RE: 2.1 Patch Notes - Kailia - 12-14-2013 There's a well written post on the official forums on these housing costs: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/127656-An-Open-Letter-to-Yoshida-san-Please-Slice-One-Zero-Off-the-Housing-Prices I think we RPers should definitely voice our support for this. Because as it stands, I don't see too many FC's on Balmung even getting an FC house. It's a shame too. A really fantastic feature and it right now will see little if any use. What a waste! RE: 2.1 Patch Notes - Chakha Malqir - 12-14-2013 I'm starting to wonder if we should have one great big Free Company merger of sorts, to be perfectly honest. Try to maximize just how many people are in a Free Company, then use the Linkshells for the denominations. Have the Free Company be more of a "We are Role-Players! This is what we do!" and have the Linkshells be where everyone splits up and affiliates amongst themselves. Sounds backwards compared to what we're doing now (at least on Balmung), but if we do it this way, it would be far easier for other Roleplayers to connect! Honestly, it's absurd. Only the richest most money-grubbing players will have housing at all. RE: 2.1 Patch Notes - Rinh Hallani - 12-15-2013 I threw my support at that post since it's about the most I can do at this point, uff. RE: 2.1 Patch Notes - Clover - 12-15-2013 As it's been mentioned, perhaps player housing won't be as expensive. A FC is full of people, after all, and I guess it's expected each of them to contribute with some money. 200m is still a lot, but I guess that bigger and more active the FC is, the easier it is to gather that much gil. Perhaps they also want player housing to start being as something that only a few can reach, so that the server won't crash with many houses (?). In any case, I'll wait for news about personal player housing, though right now I'm afraid I won't make it. Even if it cost half of what FC houses do, I don't know how to make that much money *sweatdrops*. If it costs half as much as it does now my character will continue to live in the wilds plain and simple. RE: 2.1 Patch Notes - Kismet - 12-15-2013 ![]() I'm sorry, but... A friend sent me this and I thought it was really, really funny. XDDD RE: 2.1 Patch Notes - Erik Mynhier - 12-15-2013 I'm getting my Nightmare mount! ![]() Now if they'll just give me my Dark Knight back. ![]() RE: 2.1 Patch Notes - N'taeyl - 12-15-2013 (12-14-2013, 10:04 PM)Burning Passion Wrote: I'm starting to wonder if we should have one great big Free Company merger of sorts, to be perfectly honest. When I'm designing something, especially housing, get out of my way and I'll tell you when I'm ready for opinions! That will probably just create tons of tensions and do the opposite of bringing us together >.> I'd rather just not have a house than have one and not get to have a chance to add my own flare to it, without compromising with 15 other people. RE: 2.1 Patch Notes - Gideon Aryeh - 12-15-2013 This is probably the first time I've ever wished for a cash shop because I'd rather buy these with real money instead of run like a damn hamster on a wheel to grind content over and over again. I hear you Rock; if we could drop a micro transaction sale for the housing I'd do it in a heartbeat.  I'll never support RMT, but these prices seem like a sting operation for those that have.  What happened to accessibility and casual play?  I don't think that the Drifter's are by ANY means slackers when it comes to raising funds for housing, and I'm proud of the nearly 10 million gil we've gathered since launch of 2.0.  But that's a drop in the bucket in regards to what's being demanded of us. RE: 2.1 Patch Notes - Kieron Lohengrin - 12-15-2013 godly monk and marauder buffs caster and bard nerfs (specifically whm holy and bard RoD) looks overall like more anti-speedrun measures and gil sinks to fix the economy hope pvp gear isnt just darklight recolors RE: 2.1 Patch Notes - CalebAgron - 12-16-2013 *sigh* and here i thought my 2-300k donation would make a difference...lawls NOT. I mean I get it, they should be relatively expensive...but really..300mil? As someone pointed out its the ROLEPLAYERS who will make the most use out of them...and most roleplayers dont farm shit for gil. RE: 2.1 Patch Notes - ansemaru - 12-16-2013 If at all possible, I want to avoid a scenario in which massive numbers of FCs have to merge together. I love the RP community, but I wouldn't want to share a house with all of you guys, if you get what I'm saying. My FC is a small, tight-knit group with a coherent theme and tone, and giving that up for a massive group that can pool their money together for a single house would ruin a lot of what I love about it for roleplaying. I genuinely hope Square sees the massively negative reaction to the housing prices and changes the pricing rates for the houses. |
