Raubahn is arguably the strongest disciple of war in the realm, and isn't a PLD or DRK. Y'shtola isn't a WHM, and Thancred not a NIN. Raubahn gets two swords. He is teh hax. Also awesome. and Yugiri is a NIN! And we all know shes much more awesome than Thancreed >.> RE: Questions from a lore newbie. - Valence - 12-30-2016 Keep in mind that conjurers are also healers, among their duties. In fact conjury is mostly used offensively as well as defensively in others regions. In the Shroud they just spend a lot of their time tending to the forest well being and the elementals. Oooh, this game has a rolling system? That is very good information to know. I know there IS rolling but hadn't looked into whether or not it was a command or just something that automatically happened in dungeons for loot or whathaveyou. I actually really like having that little element to luck for RPing combat situations and stuff - I play a lot of tabletop. I think it's fun to describe my character totally duffing up when I get a bad roll. (12-30-2016, 01:46 PM)Gegenji Wrote: Complete with ALC-specific outfits. Oh no, my one weakness. Outfits. In regards to healers, I guess there is a huge amount of scope as to what I could RP, and that rent-a-heal linkshell is definitely the kind of concept I could get behind. But I want to spend more time seeing which character is my favourite before 'settling down' as it were. Someone mentioned having a RP Flag before and I would like to ask what this meant? Are there RP add ons for the game that I should know about or is this referring to something else? Thank you! RE: Questions from a lore newbie. - Gegenji - 12-30-2016 You can roll from 0-999 using the /random command. Just type that in and you'll roll a number! It's frequently used in a lot of the competition-style events just to keep everyone on a somewhat level playing field, horribly RNG luck notwithstanding. And there's various statuses you can set yourself as in-game. Online, Do Not Disturb, AFK, Looking for Party, and so on. One of the more recent updates added a "Roleplayer" status you can set yourself as so people will know you're looking for RP. ![]() RE: Questions from a lore newbie. - Hixxi - 12-30-2016 (12-30-2016, 02:34 PM)Gegenji Wrote: One of the more recent updates added a "Roleplayer" status you can set yourself as so people will know you're looking for RP. ![]() Where has this game been all my life? And there's always the RPC wiki! But you can't expect people to read that before/while RPing with someone. But it's nice to have. Add ons are great but I'm more excited about the fact that the game devs took notice of RPers and added some functionality for them! RE: Questions from a lore newbie. - Hixxi - 12-30-2016 Yes, that is what I read it as! MRP and TRP (TotalRolePlay) are both very popular RP add-ons for WoW. But really I can live without an equivalent. Everyone's RP profiles are really nice here on the forums. RE: Questions from a lore newbie. - LiadansWhisper - 12-30-2016 (12-30-2016, 12:46 PM)Hixxi Wrote: In regards to RPing professions rather than classes: this is definitely an option! But I've always super enjoyed healing type characters. But I think I could get away with doing even a surgeon or almost an alchemist type without relying on magic? That would also be very interesting and fun to RP! It is very good to know that WHM and other classes just don't work well in the setting from an RP perspective depending on what type of RPer you are. Okay, so, you can totally play a White Mage if you want to. It's completely doable, you just have to sell it to other people. If your backstory and RP is believable, people will accept you. And there is nothing wrong with that. There are exceptions to every rule, and adventurers are pretty much always exceptions. With that said, you can be a powerful - near-godly, really - healer as a Conjurer, too. And there are subsets to even Conjury. For instance, there are Hearers, who appear to be people born with some natural affinity for Conjury who also possess the talent to be able to "Hear" the Elementals when they speak. The ability does have to be trained, but there are certainly many more Hearers than there are Padjal (or White Mages), and they do play an important part in Gridania. The nice thing is that you get a 60-character Search / Examine description for your character natively, accessed by targeting yourself (F1) and right-clicking your target bar and clicking Edit Search Info. It's a lot smaller than MRP or TRP allows, but there's no need for an addon so everyone has it, and 60 characters are enough to add in a small description, a welcome note for RP walkups, and a tinyurl link to an RPC biography. I would like to stay away from unreasonable, special snow-flakey situations and I'm not really super into RPing very powerful characters. I'm far more happy RPing a bog standard wandering alchemist with a penchant for healing potions. ![]() (12-31-2016, 12:59 AM)Thunderbolt300 Wrote: The nice thing is that you get a 60-character Search / Examine description for your character natively, accessed by targeting yourself (F1) and right-clicking your target bar and clicking Edit Search Info.
