A large landmass located northeast of [[Eorzea]]. The Garlean Empire launched an attack on the city-states of Eorzea using behemoth magitek airships 15 years ago.

Though the empire easily destroyed the city of [[Ala Mhigo]] and razed Eorzea's northern region, it never invaded southern Eorzea for reasons which are as yet unknown. Regardless, the empire's invasion forced the remaining city-states of Eorzea to reconsider their past enmity and form an alliance which would ultimately give rise to the profession of adventurer.

Garm Helvardir <GARM hell-var-dear> is an Ala Mihgan-Sharlayan thespian, adventurer, and former pirate.

Garm stands at an above average height for a Hyur, with a slender build and skin uncharacteristically pale for one who had much of his life at sea. He possesses neck length hair, parted in two bangs that frame a soft, expressive face—One typically pensive in experience. Garm has a strong penchant for extravagant clothing, and can typically be found donning expensive fashionable clothing belonging to a social class he certainly does not possess the funds to belong to. If not seen in expensive apparel, he would usually be found in whatever clothing is appropriate for his next role.

If there’s one thing Garm dislikes, it’s questions concerning his past a pirate. Despite the tone of fondness found in his rare nostalgic recounts, he seems to have spent his short time on land doing all he could do dissociate himself from his past life—a life he frequently discounts as nothing but a sea bound prison; a life with no company but ill-mannered, illiterate gil-minded thugs who’d fled Ala Mihgo alongside his family.

He’d been born in Ala Mihgo but a few years before the invasion, the son of a Sharlayan-Midlander scholar and an Ala Mihgan mercenary, but his memories of such a time remain scarce. With no family or friends save for his parents, his memories of the invasion remain, sure, but nothing of value was lost, as nothing of value was remembered.

His parents had escaped to sea with their lives, and his father’s skills as a mercenary had transferred well to a life of piracy, as they spent the next decade travelling across the islands surrounding La Noscea. Garm, however, found himself lacking any true purpose or sense of belonging as he grew older. As one of the few youth on the ship, his time was spent in isolation, occupied with simple chores, work as a lookout, and spending whatever time his mother could spare being tutored of life outside of the ship. He’d taken a special liking to literature, but without much of a library, it’d been a subdued passion at best.

His life of piracy, however, didn’t seem to last forever. While off the coast of Limsa, the ship had been attacked by Reavers. Garm had survived the attack, recuperating within Limsa Lominsa. However, rather than taking time to mourn the loss of his parents, he’d chosen instead to accept what had happened, taking advantage of his newfound freedom, and renouncing his past.

He still possesses various traits reminiscent of his past life: when asked about his earrings, he’d simply point out that they aid his eyesight, and a rougher accent may escape when riled up, but with the new Age of Adventure came an opportunity for long-desired freedom. He was no longer confined to his sea bound prison, and no longer are his old passions subdued by the limits of poverty and unavailability. A dreamer at heart, Garm now hopes to indulge on, and leave his mark on Eorzea through these fictitious tales and ideals, possessing no other skills.

Fears: Failure, normalcy 

Talents: Well-versed in the poetic arts, a scholar, and novice proficiency with ship navigation, lock-picking and pickpocketing. 

Likes (hobbies, foods, etc): Literature, art, exploration, clothing, fame.

Dislikes (pet peeves, prejudices, etc): Normalcy, ignorance.

Emotions & Demeanor (INC) : While he always seems to be pre-occupied with himself, he really isn't as egotistical or self-centered as let on, but seems to simply have a lot more trouble feigning interest than one would suspect from a supposed actor, although not for a lack of trying. He sometimes seems to simply be in conscious search of acknowledgement, and tries to subtly acquire such.

Having not had any experience outside of port cities and villages, he tends to be quite curious and inquisitive, and almost, if not always willing for adventure with those whom he can bear, and who can bear him.

Mind (intelligence, etc): Being quite the studious person, Garm would possess above-average intelligence. He's quite witty, and has memorized quite a few poetic lines and verses, as well as combat stances.

Thanks to years of martial arts, archery, gunmanship and magic training during his time spent confined to sea, he possesses all the book smarts related to combat, a bit of the practice, and absolutely none of the experience. He is by no means the most powerful of fighters, yet his knowledge and own improvisational abilities allow him to hold his own whilst in battle.

		+	Vaelyn Nykah is a Duskwight Mercenary with a heart of gold and a knack for getting himself into things. Adventurous, quick witted, and lively, there is little that Vaelyn does not find himself enjoying taking part in or getting himself into. Vaelyn is also known for being extremely creative and this skill is even shown in combat. He loves to come up with crazy stories and wild ideas about the world around him; even worse around children as he loves to tell them all types of tall tales. Mostly ones of heroes defeating evil monsters or places of great danger, but equally of great reward. Unlike many of his people though, Vaelyn refuses to resort to underhanded means to gain the upper level. He likes to try to keep some sense of honor and dignity, while on the same coin, he can also come across just like his people due to his more street-wise ways and coy to sometimes playful wording; Yep, he can be a bit of Trickster for fun.

		+	* Polearms: Vaelyn has a natural flow with polearm type weapons and has shown great skill with one since he was allowed to pick up a weapon. The Polearm warfare is something that had been noted in his family for generations, though was rarely spoke of until he got ready to leave out. Mostly because his father did not wish for his son to think to highly of himself with such a family gift during his training. This is also one of Vaelyn's favorite weapons.
		+	* Hand-To-Hand: Vaelyn, like all Duskwight are trained in Hand-to-Hand combat, as they can use their ability to hear someone or something coming in the shadows before tackling them. Though Vaelyn is trained in the art, he doesn't really care much for it. He rather have a weapon with a long reach between himself and whatever it is he may have to attack.

		+	* Sharp Hearing: Vaelyn has, like most Duskwights, extremely sharp hearing. This is very handy when using sound to help him navigate in very dark places and makes up for his lack of eye sight in the darkness. The curse of such a sharp hearing is that some particular sounds can also be extreme painful if they are high enough.
		+	* Long Reach: Vaelyn, like many Elezen, is tall. He is actually even seen as tall for his own race at times. As such Vaelyn has a pretty good reaching range with his own hands, which seems to be only extended with the polearm he uses.
		+	* Height: Vaelyn is a tall guy, even compared to many of his Elezen kind. Though he isn't really the tallest of them either; or at least he doesn't think so. Though this height gives him the advantage of seeing over people, it also comes with the curses of making him easy to spot and doesn't help when dealing with very low clearance areas.
		+	* Goddess Luck: This is a term that was given to him probably since he was young. Vaelyn has always, somehow, ended up lucky. Even in the worse of situations, he always seems to somehow manage to survive or get out of a situation by the skin of his teeth. He may still get a scar or two from the experience, but yet somehow he manages to avoid getting a broken bone or worse fate, Death.

Soon, though, Miyuki returned, meaning Riku didn't have to entertain himself anymore - not that that had the time to; Souyo had already begun cooking, and soon arrived with two plates of salad - one for each Lalafell, as Burgenheim left to run some errands, whilst Kassandra had fallen asleep at her desk. Miyuki thoroughly enjoyed her salad, whilst Riku was not quite as grateful; he was still worried about the nature of the meal, and although he did not dislike salad, his opinion of its taste was rather neutral.

		+	The next part of the meal arrived before Riku had even finished his salad - it was soup. Riku's suspisions rose at the sheer amount of food that was coming his way, so much so that he spoke his fears outloud - loud enough for Souyo to hear! Thankfully, the Elezen was not offended, and assured the boy that he did not favour the taste of Lalafell. And so, Riku continued his meal, pouring the remains of his salad into the soup and eating it, getting soup all over his face, which amused Miyuki.

		+	After the soup, it was time for cake - cheesecake! This quite excited Miyuki, who began enjoying her cake immediately. Riku was less excited however, but ate his meal none the less, once again adding to the mess on his face. Once Riku had finished, Souyo handed him a cloth to wipe his face with, whilst the Elezen left to wash up the dishes. Riku - with the sugar slowly entering his system, slowly giving him rather too much energy - complained to Miyuki how full up he felt, wondering if having such a heavy belly was how it felt to be a fat person. Soon, he began pondering whether hugging a fat person would be any more comfortable than hugging a thin person, as surely a fat person would be more cushiony, then finally, the sugar rush began.

		+	Somehow, Riku managed to transform the idea of a fat person into the idea of a person made of jelly. Soon, he started making jelly onomatopoeia, sending Miyuki into hysterical giggling. The energy kept coming, however, and Riku found himself running around the room, pretending to be made of jelly, much to the surprise of Kassandra - who had barely woken up - and Endricane, who had only just entered the building. Riku finally tired himself out, however, collapsing onto Miyuki with a cuddle. However, his jelly-fantasies were far from over, and continued even after Alothia entered the room - and Aly did nothing but encourage it, joining in with the jelliness. And so, Riku - changed as if by magic by the sugar within the cheesecake - continued with the jelly silliness until he was so exhausted, he fell asleep on the floor, dreaming about jelly.

		+	When Riku returned to HQ on the evening of the next day, however, the building was quite different. Empty. Deserted. Nobody was there. However, he did not have to look far to find out why - his linkpearl told him instead. After much fuzzing, fizzing, buzzing and chirping, the object finally began to work, alerting him to the fact that everyone were out playing games. When Riku asked about it, he was told that he was late to Tessa's party! Without even thinking about changing out of his deadly Drachen armour, Riku rushed off to the Mineral Concern as he was instructed to do.

		+	When Riku arrived, he saw Tessa standing around in what appeared to be her underwear. He decided not to ask about it, and instead nibbled on some of the food until everyone else arrived - apparently having had played hide-and-seek around the city as one of the party games. Alothia gave Riku a replacement for his damaged pearl, whilst Tessa took to the stage in order to address the reasonably large number of guests. A gambling game involving dice was announced, which Zenge won, but he was stripped of his prize on account of the fact that he had already won a game. And so the prize went to a man named [[Daemon Blade]] instead. Once this game was over, some of the guests assembled on the stage as part of a costume competition, whilst Endricane rushed off to get a costume of his own. Riku seemed rather uninterested, however, happier instead to sit under the table rolling a die across the floor. Until Endricane returned in a full set of Drachen armour.

Naturally, most of the guests were now becoming quite drunk, and some of the dares were becoming quite fearsome indeed.
