It's all in character. There's 0 real gil being traded. We're also using a simple 1:100 ratio. That means 1$:100g. So it's $20 per. person (which is the typical price of "charity" events -- or most establishment -- entry), and all in character donations go towards charity. It is, at the end of the day, all for fun.
If your FC can't afford it IC, then there's options. You could make a guild thing out of it with your people (on your own time, obviously) where maybe they do leves or other adventurer work so that they work up enough gil to donate. As, they'd likely not be able to participate due to things like the amount of candy they'd need to buy or otherwise. Similar, if your FC can't ICly afford it, they could participate by doing groups of ToTers, and make other FCs pay more because y'all can theme yourselves. ;3 Â
There's still ways to participate all around. ♥
