After some time searching the North Shroud, Sharla had made her way back to Fallgourd Float to speak with her contact. Her own search had turned up nothing so far, just as she suspected and she had little doubt that her contact’s efforts produced any more. After making her own report with her contact she had then decided to continue her search in Gridania, in the hope that some manner of clues or hints would turn up at the very least.
Making her way to the stable master to retrieve her chocobo, Sharla turned her head slightly and frowned. “You’re still here? I thought ye would have gotten bored by now…†She went back to tending her Chocobo, leading it from the stables as she brushed by the figure that had approached her from behind.
“And here I was thinking you’d be happy that I decided to stick around. I mean...I don’t really have much of a choice in that matter, but you already know that. Besides, you know you enjoy my company.†The response came came rather snidely from a shorter woman, with similar eyes to Sharla, sharing similar facial features, with a blonde ponytail. She sighed rather heavily as she began to follow Sharla’s departure. “Oh come on, don’t be like that! Are you seriously still trying to find that girl? It’s been a couple of weeks now. Chances are she’s either dead, or simply doesn’t want to be found...and you’ll end up the same way if you keep doing the same way you are now. Or worse…â€
Sharla stopped for a moment as she led her chocobo from Fallgourd Float by the reigns. Taking  the time to don her turban, concealing her eyes, she looked up to the bird as a slight smile formed on her face. “Come on, Gaheris...let’s get this over with.†The only response she received from her steed was in the form of a gentle nuzzle of it’s beak on the back of her turban. “Easy boy, easy...we’ll be back home before ye know it.†She tugged lightly on the reigns, motioning her steed to follow.
“One of these days you’ll listen to me...just hope it’s not too late by then.†The younger woman quickened her steps to catch up to Sharla. “You’re really going to keep going the way you are now, huh? I can tell you’re having doubts about what you’re doing. You can make things so much easier for yourself. I know you’re thinking about it...why else would you keep me around for?†She looked up at Sharla as smirk formed on her face.
“Maybe it’s not my place to get involved any further, I just hope I’m doin’ th’ right thing. An’ as fer as you! Yer jus’ a bad memory tha’ won’t go away. Either tha’ or I truly have lost my mind...or th’ result o’ my drinkin’ last night. Either way...yer not worth listenin’ to. I’ve got better things tae do than go insane, listenin’ to yer damned babblin’! Jus’ bloody...go..away…â€
The shorter woman just shrugged, with a smug grin on her face as she faced towards the road ahead of them. “Can’t, I’m stuck in here…†She briefly looked to Sharla as she pointed a finger at her head. “Besides...deep down, you really don’t want me gone...do you?â€
Sharla stopped at that comment, and took a moment to gaze at her left hand. A brief flash of violet came from the gem that was embedded in her hand. She turned back to the younger woman and removed her turban, revealing blood-red colored eyes before they reverted back to their normal coloring. “That’s not all I’m stuck with…†Sharla turned, continuing down the path with her chocobo in tow.
“Mmhmm, just as I thought. Yet...here you are, still getting yourself involved. What if you aren’t doing the right thing? Are you prepared to fail...to lose everything again?†She scoffs and rolls her eyes, averting her gaze from Sharla. “Now I’m beginning to wonder why I even bother! Well...at least you’re finally starting to acknowledge my presence, so that’s a start…†The younger girl let out a soft sigh while shaking her head. “So...Gridania, huh? Not sure if that’s really a good idea with your recent...activities. I mean, what exactly do you expect to learn or even find there? Like I said already, she’s either dead or just doesn’t want to be found.â€
Sharla remained silent as she merely turned her head to glare at the younger woman as her eyes flashed red once more. She turned shortly after, placing her turban back on and continuing on the road to Gridania, yet her eyes did not revert back to normal.
