Makhchin (The Pack)
Tracing origins back to Noykin and Goro, this particular tribe places a heavy emphasis on animal partnerships (though not necessarily exclusive to horses). They bind themselves to their animal companions in a similar fashion to marriage, and once the pact is made will not form a bond with any other animal of that type (though they can have multiple animal partners of different species, ex: one horse, one falcon, ect within reason).Â
Some Xaela have been known to bond with as many as five separate beasts, though it is far more common for them to be bound to only two.
These bonds last the lifetime of both the Xaela and the animal in question, and when they pass they are mourned as if it was the passing of a close family member. Funerary traditions are frequently observed. Because of the closeness between Xaela and beast, they are fiercely protective of their companions and the deep bond between the pair makes it seem as if the two have forged a kind of mental link.Â
It is considered deeply disrespectful to touch another's animals without permission.
