If Your Character Starred in Their Own Videogame - Steel Wolf - 12-11-2014

Lots of these types of threads popping up recently...and I wanted to sort of add my own, because the responses to these threads have been genuinely fascinating.

If your character was removed from the MMO world and placed in their own videogame, what would it be like? Here's how I see this breaking down....

Game Title: Duh.

Game Type: Action platformer? Stealth action? Turn-based strategy? What sort of genre is your character's game?

Platform: New-gen? Handheld? Old school? What system do we get to play your creation on?

Plot Summary: What is your character going through in this game? Is it just another day in an adventurer's life? Is it their origin story told through a videogame narrative? Or are they just going to play beach volleyball and wear ridiculous swimwear whilst doing so?

Special Moves: Briefly, discuss some of the special moves your in-game avatar would have where appropriate.

Enemies: What's Mario without the Goombas to stomp? List out some of the enemies your character would face!

Of course, if there's any sections or things you feel need to be added, feel free!

Also, bonus points for people who create box art for their games. :3

RE: If Your Character Starred in Their Own Videogame - Dogberry - 12-11-2014

Game Title: The One You Feed

Game Type: Telltale style Adventure game a la The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, etc. with elements of games like Sunless Sea and Cid Meier's Pirates.

Platform: PC and Major Console

Plot Summary: Dogberry, a traumatized sailor and single father who survived an attack by an angry sea god leaves his son behind to go on one last voyage on the promise of fortune and glory by his old friend and captain, as they seek a lost artifact that promises power. While under way, the voyage turns sour, and the crew turns to mutiny. Dogberry is elected captain. Now, with the ship at his command, the fate of the crew is in his hands. Does he set out to finish the voyage and return home safely to his son, or does he lead his men on a mad crusade for revenge against the very gods? The player must manage resources and keep the crew and ship in sailing condition, as well as maintaining crew morale so that no further mutinies happen. A tricky task, to be sure. The name "The One You Feed" is an homage to the old story about the two wolves representing good and evil, and the one that wins is the one you feed. It's also a nod to the very real threat of starvation, and as the player you will have to choose who lives and who dies.

Special Moves: N/A.

Enemies: The crew, pirates, the sea itself, the gods, starvation, the darkest parts of human nature, etc.

He also tells Swift that nobody is investigating Lolorito's criminal activity, which includes a significant portion of the city's drug trade and several unsolved homicides.

This is going to make a great song for later, if you live that is.

RE: If Your Character Starred in Their Own Videogame - Knight Kat - 12-12-2014

Game Title: Lost Tail

Game Type: Cinematic action suspense thriller. Much like the latest Tomb Raider game. Would have elements of an theatrical RPG like the Mass Effect and Dragon Age games.

Platform: PC and new gen consoles.

Plot Summary: Kiht Jakkya gets captured by Ixal in the Twelveswood while attempting to save some "silly" outsiders from said group of Ixal. She and the captives are taken on an Ixal airship that sets course to Xelphatol(sp?). Kiht gets free, and overcomes the small crew. However, she has no idea how to operate the "Gods damned" airship. She sets it off course and it lands (she causes it to crash) in Ala Mhigo! She must struggle to adapt and survive in an unfamiliar land behind enemy lines. She will meet allies and enemies. The player's choices influence parts of the story and outcome with three alignments (Kiht alignments): Noble(morally light), quirky(morally neutral) and Savage(morally dark). Will the lost Keeper of the Moon survive in Garlean-occupied territory, and find her way home?

Game-play: Players can choose to unlock skills and weapons based on three classes: Hunter, Scout and Knight.

Enemies: Garleans, Magitek, native creatures, terrorists, assassins, ect. Choices influence story path. Will Kiht side with Ala Mhigans who still fight against Garlean occupation by going so far as to resort to terrorism? Will she side with the sympathizers who are simply trying to live their lives as best they can under the Empire's rule? Will she refuse to choose sides and struggle on her own?

Note: I came up with this idea on the fly, and have no idea if it is lore friendly, but it is -just- a game concept. Do not take anything in this as accurate lore or actual parts of Kiht's back-story. I verified none of it. Laugh

RE: If Your Character Starred in Their Own Videogame - Gegenji - 12-12-2014

Game Title: Pinion Knights

Game Type: Nippon-Ichi SRPG

Platform: Playstation [Insert Number Here] and PSP

Plot Summary:
Chachan Gengen is a young transfer student to Sultansword Academy, the training ground for all the world's heroes. It's here that they learn how to fight, how to think, and how to act like a hero under the watchful eye of the school's illustrious Pala-Deans. However, young Chachan comes from the land of Dourma, infamous for its sneaks and thieves and other generally unheroic sorts! Can our Hero-Hopeful make his way to graduation and prove that the heart of a hero can beat in any chest!?

Gameplay:
If you're familiar with any of the Disgaea-style games, you know what to expect here. Grid-based combat, combo attacks, throwing enemies and allies, and ridiculously high numbers for levels, stats, and damage. Create and level your own members of Chachan's Pinion Knights, using Ascension to have them be born again as new classes with even better stats!

Coupled with it is an engaging, if wacky storyline full of colorful characters such as the overly serious Pala-Dean of Arms Worn Castle and the quick-to-violence Heroic Theme Songs instructor Delphy Emma. Download the DLC to gain access to other notable characters from both in the story and from other NI games!

Enemies:
Fight a wide assortment of baddy-bads in your training to be a hero! From the lowly spriggans to the deceptively dangerous tonberries. But your enemies are not just monsters, beware the Student Council and its by-the-book Class President Jacketlynn Craft! Crossing them could lead to much more dangerous things than simply detention!

Take flight, Pinion Knights!

(This has been a work of fiction. Any resemblance to existing characters, living or dead, is merely coincidence. [sub]I regret nothing.[/sub])

RE: If Your Character Starred in Their Own Videogame - Telluride - 12-12-2014

Nathan fell asleep one night, and had an incredible dream in which he woke up in Garlemald and had to adapt to the strangeness of it. They made a videogame that was inspired by this dream. Maybe you've heard about it.

RE: If Your Character Starred in Their Own Videogame - Jazz Egi - 12-13-2014

Name: Stitching Hour

Genre: Adventure/Puzzle

Device: PC / Mobile

Plot: The Unofficial Non-Denominational Scholar's Guild of Uldah has opened for business and the sick, dying and injured are piling up at the door! Play as Tallera, Kaiya or Juno on a fast-paced mission to diagnose, cure and medicate the never ending tides of sick and injured!

Gameplay: A sort of spin on the Diner Dash formula. Figure out what's wrong with the patient and treat them accordingly. Some patients need healing, others medicine or even leeching. Some patients bleed out faster, triage is a must! Use your fairy to take the load off!

Each character has a different playstyle!

Tallera: Brews potions the fastest, better at guilting donations out of patients. Does not have a fairy but can scream for help on cooldown.
Kaiya: Fastest healer and leecher. Moves so skillfully that dying patients appear to die slower. Scares away goons by being authorative.
Juno: Moves the fastest. Fairy heals the fastest. Female patients tip double and refuse to die and upset him.

Use donations to upgrade the clinic and research stronger spells! Avoid the vengeful goons of the alchemists guild!
