issues with SweetFX - Aduu Avagnar - 07-20-2014

I know that there are a fair few players that use SweetFX with their games to make it more stunning, but when I try, I can't get it to work. The part that I run into issues with is the d3d9.dll file, it causes the game to crash after hitting Play on the launcher. If i remove that from the Game folder then it loads fine, but obviously SweetFX itself doesn't work.

so, if anyone with experience with this kind of issue or has resolved it themelves, that would be great :s

RE: issues with SweetFX - OverlordOutpost - 07-20-2014

The FF14 engine just doesn't play well with SweetFX.  You may need to either use an older version, remove any overlay programs you have running (including steam), or just have a different brand of card.

Getting SweetFX to run on FF14 is a huge hassle.

It could either be a bad file or possibly out-of-date directx.

You could try grabbing the directx9 webinstaller off of microsoft's site and letting it try to grab any versions not currently installed. (There are a ton)

...Did you use a guide for setting up SweetFX? I personally followed this one, which worked pretty well for me.

@Unnamed has the right post to get you all fixed up.

SweetFX with XIV ARR does't use the full files in the up to date version. The two .dll's and the two .txt for settings int that mediafire link.

RE: issues with SweetFX - Aduu Avagnar - 07-21-2014

got it to work, ended up finding a youtube video with a dropbox link to ones that worked XD

sooooo much more colour now...

Glad you posted this. I forgot they had SweetFX for the game. Time to blind myself.

RE: issues with SweetFX - Ilwe'ran - 12-18-2014

^ this topic because with windows 7 the reddit message which offers a solution to not crash constantly when you launch the game Smile

My only problem is sweetFX clearly blurr the text even with every option to 0 (off) if someone has an idea to change that (I already tested the resolution change in that ffxiv file, it's even worse) I take !

RE: issues with SweetFX - Haven's Fox - 12-20-2014

I don't think there is a way to completely get around the blurring of text. Atleast I haven't found a way yet. Though some settings do lessen it considerably. Just the nature of adding an overlay to change how a game looks.

RE: issues with SweetFX - Ilwe'ran - 12-20-2014

Oh I forgot to say that I did, completely (atm least when I play in windowed, didn't test otherwise)
I give you my configuration. And there is nothing to change in game option Wink
