Lost but not found... (Closed) - Gerick - 09-02-2010

It's been over a year since I've RPed (back when Aion first came out). So I decided to do some forum RP to get back into the swing of things. I apologize in advance for how bad or odd it may turn out to be. Also this is an open RP and if you want to you can act as my character. Just don't over dot it. Wink

It was a glorious morning on the outskirts of Limsa Lominsa with nary a cloud in the sky, birds in the air, a warm breeze was blowing, and the gentle noise of one swearing under his breath. Gerick had finally gotten a job offer after two weeks of finding nothing. He was staring at a sheet of paper like a deer staring blankly at a stampede of on coming chocobos. He hate to admit it but he was lost. The scribbling on the paper was lackluster at best and there were splotches of ink covering up what seemed to be key words for finding his employer.

He sat down hard on the ground and muttered a few words to himself. His stomach responded in kind with a loud rumble as he grabbed his stomach in pain. "It seems you're trying to eat yourself to death." Unfortunately for Gerick he has had to ration his food with the long lull between jobs and was almost completely out. As he patted his stomach he reassured it "Don't worry I'll feed ya."

He pulled out a small skillet and what was left of his lard of his bacon. Several measly shriveled strips. He sighed heavily then started a small fire. As the pan heated up he threw the remaining slices on the pan, relishing the smell of it wafting into the air. He once again picked up his poorly drawn map and started examining it to see if he can cracked the code of spelling errors and missing words.

Re: Lost but not found... (Open RP) - Richter - 09-02-2010

As the sun drenched La Noscea in saturation and a ruthless glare, Richter was only just taking a nap. He'd been up all night down in the Cassiopeia Hollow, where he was doing some music practice and tinkering around with a new invention of his. Before he took rest on a flat slab of limestone and took a cat nap, he had placed the peculiar harness down at his side. Suddenly, a thought hit him.

I need to try out this hitchhiking harness on something appropriate -- hmm, maybe an airship, thought Richter as he looked at the device, designed to shackle to any large vehicle. He then noticed a man down near the gate reading something, and was bored enough to go down and start a conversation. Mr. V. galloped through the rolling hills, sometimes in a jog or at a skip, as he decided to show off his new prototype.

"Say sir, what is that you're reading?"

Gerick looked up at the man with a raised eyebrow then looked to his cooking bacon then back at the man defensively. He better not be here for my food. he thought to himself.

"It's a map from the client who hired me. I'm having difficulty making heads or tales of what they wrote."

He took another quick look over his parchment before looking back up to Richter. He made it an effort to never share his clients information with anyone unless he was authorized to. It was custom for his employers to send him the price of the job and what the job was in the letters. Despite this air of confidentiality there are always exceptions.

"Maybe you can help me with it."

He handed the paper towards Richter, while taking a quick glance at the strange contraption in his hand. The smell of his food cooking made his stomach anxious and let out a large grumble. Gerick's eye went wide with embarrassment, hoping the one across from him didn't hear it.

Ghost clomped up the hill, breathing somewhat heavily, Damn hills, He thought, Why do you hills have to be so tall. Damnit. As he crested the hill he smelled something familiar, at first he could not believe his nose, then he saw it, the small cooking fire. His nose had not lied, the smell was true, the smell of Bacon. Reenergized by this glorious smell, Ghost clomped down the hill at record clomping speed his armor clinking heavily with his brisk walk. He stopped in front of the small fire, after a moment passed a single tear shed from his eye, mingling with the sweat on his face.

"I was decieved." was all he said.

"Oh, were you?" Richter was doing a fine job of reading the manuscript he had received -- except that it was indeed badly written, with splotches of black ink dotting the paper. "I really don't know sir," he said back to the owner. "I can't decipher all of it either, and I've had to deal with much the same situation!" Richter himself now smelled the warm and inviting smell of cooked bacon, and he couldn't deny his sense that sweet moment. "I'm actually here to ask you a question," said Richter in a polite tone of voice, as he reached down to manhandle what looked to be some mangled set of straps, bars, and shackles.

"You know of a ship that allows hitchhikers?"

Re: Lost but not found... (Open RP) - Gerick - 09-03-2010

Gerick was slightly disheartened that the man could not decipher the message, but relieved he wasn't after his few remaining slivers of food. He looked over the other man with an accusing gaze but turned back to Richter.

"I'm not aware of any airships that enjoy the pleasures of a hitchhiker but I've known ships to take on passengers for the right price."

Gerick had been on airships before but he was usually pulling an escort job at the time. He always recommended the captains refrain from picking up strange beings. As he looked over what seemed like a random assortment of straps in his hands and became both suspicious and curious.

"Why so interested in airships?"

Gerick looked back over at the man sweating in the armor and handed him a skin of water.

"Here."

Ghost ignored the water and kneeled down in front of what was supposed to be bacon. Muttering to himself about a pitiful excuse for food, he grabbed the hot skillet and tossed the scraps over his shoulder. After a moment of rummaging in his bag he pulled out a small paper wrapped parcel, which he slowly opened to reveal a large chunk of slab bacon. Which Ghost reverently sliced and placed on the skillet.

Gerick gasped at the sight of the man just nonshalantly throwing his bacon out of the pain and onto the ground. It was the last of his food and he hadn't eaten in almost a day. As he mourned for his bacon he saw the metal clad man pull out a large slab of bacon from his pack and toss it inot the skillet. Gerick's eyes shot wide open almost bringing tears to his eyes. It was, at that time, the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. He nearly forgot the reason he was even in Limsa Lominsa or the fact the other two Hyur even existed.

He then quickly shook his head to regain his composure and turned his attention back to the other Hyur with the bundle of straps.

Re: Lost but not found... (Open RP) - elisan - 09-09-2010

Why? What had she been thinking, taking that nap so late in the evening that now, when she ought to be sleeping and avoiding the heartless sun - she was wide awake and wandering about! In the bustle of the city, even as unusual as the albino may be, people went about their business with no mind to her presence. It was both disconcerting and comforting at the same time - so unlike her home under the mountains. In the dark city, she stood out like a sore thumb and it was part of the reason her father had so quickly 'encouraged' her to join the temple. He's practically paid them to take her, so eager had the nobleman been to get rid of his "problem child".

In her trip down memory lane, Elisan had lost sight of where exactly she had been going and with a startled blink -found she'd wandered out of the main thorough fare of the island city and into the more remote areas. Lovely. It wasn't worth the effort required to draw cards, not to mention she risked incurring the wrath of her patron deity for being so frivolous with her gifts. Lost in the physical sense did not constitute a need for divine guidance and so, with a breath taken, she glanced first one way and then the other and picked a direction at random. Eventually, she'd run into someone or something that looked familiar.

'Eventually' came a short walk later when she rounded the corner to find a trio of what appeared to be hyur males huddled around a small fire. As she got closer, the scent of cooking bacon beckoned and curiosity won out over caution. The priestess was presently clad in a cowled robe of twilight hues - pale blues, purple and gold fading into one another. The shoulder length mane of shocking white was mostly covered by the hood of a lightweight cloak. On her shoulder was pinned a silver brooch in the shape of a spinning wheel. A slender, pale hand was lifted in polite greeting.
