In Your Bag - Zizirimu Yayarimu - 07-11-2013

Waves a +1 wand of game development and changes inventory space to harsh, realistic proportions. Everyone has a bag they can carry, the space in it, and that's it!

(and I suppose your chocobo can pack on some stuff too)

What... is in your character's bag?
What do they consider essentials for survival?
What are their keepsakes that push them forward?
How much room is there for things to collect from the wild?
How much Gil would they carry on their person?
If they have a chocobo they would haul...?
What kind of things would they leave behind?
What would they discard that you currently keep?

###
Currently Zizirimu Yayarimu's satchel is rather small, and contains only a canteen full of spring water, an alms bowl, some linkshell pearls, and couple of small to medium sized books, journal, plum and inkwell.

There is barely any room for collecting anything from the wild. He would collect edible/healing herbs, or any rare stones.

He has no chocobo, nor Gil ; ;

He left behind many more books!

Right now I keep pretty much everything I find... which isn't too much since I am level 10 (whoo!) so yeah... he'd not have so many animal skins and such >.>

RE: In Your Bag - Xha'li Moui - 07-11-2013

What would Xha'li carry?

A canteen with water, 2-3 days of dried, non-perishable, non-appetizing rations, a journal with quill and ink to record any interesting sites and/or make notes, and a few hundred gill kept in his pocket.  He's got some space in the back to take home anything interesting he finds in his travels.  Also attached to the bag is a light lance for hunting and or emergency use.

No Chocobo so it can't help haul stuff.

RE: In Your Bag - Naunet - 07-12-2013

When traveling for work, Antimony would take water and some non-perishable food of course, but more importantly the ledger assigned to whichever client she is investigating, sorting, moving or whathaveyou the assets of alongside a quill and sealed ink well. She may also carry other necessary paperwork when applicable, and occasionally a journal of her own, which is covered in attempts at theoretical equations describing aether flow and other such things (part of her hobby). Lastly she would carry enough gil to rent a room at a cheap inn should she need it.

She carries no family or personal mementos, as she would rather not be reminded of loss.

RE: In Your Bag - Ildur - 07-16-2013

Ulanan would carry a jar of olives, two potions, a roll of bandages, a cup and a small metal bowl for cooking, a spoon, a few travel rations and all of her gil (she's not wealthy). Also a creepy wooden mask, because nothing freaks people more than a small lalafell looking like an anonymous psycho.

RE: In Your Bag - Eva - 07-16-2013

What a fun idea for a thread!! Thumbsup

What... is in your character's bag?
Eva keeps a satchel with her at most times. Right at this moment (after being robbed by bandits) she only has a few things of little-to-no value kept within - a small canteen, a leather-bound journal, small silver quill, inkwell, bandaging materials and medicinal salves, a tattered mandragora plushie, and one [of a few] pouches of gil - the others being kept elsewhere on her person. She also has a few spindles of thread and a number of knitting needles, sewing needles, hoops, and various other tools of her trade. There is also the romance novel she was reading when she left. She also found two other journals in her travels which she is hanging onto for the time being. And she also is carrying a small bundle of fruit, dried beef jerky, and a half loaf of bread. There is normally also a small tea kettle and several tin cups stacked within each other as well as a sizable pouch of tea leaves, however these tea-making items have been stolen or lost since coming out of the time rift.

What do they consider essentials for survival?
She keeps a dagger strapped in a thigh-sheath that few know about. She had lost it at the battle in 1572 but recently acquired a replacement.

What are their keepsakes that push them forward?
Her journal is probably her most important possession. The volumes that came before the one she carries with her, and those from her father and ancestors are stored somewhere safe.

How much room is there for things to collect from the wild?
Right now, homeless, Eva considers carefully whether something is worth carrying or not since space is limited and she has no permanent place of residence to keep things.

How much Gil would they carry on their person?
She has a small amount of gil leftover from what she made while working in Ul'dah, and she keeps this split apart in five different locations in case she is robbed again.

If they have a chocobo they would haul...?
She no longer has a chocobo.

What kind of things would they leave behind?
While she normally would pick up most anything interesting for her collection of trinkets and baubles, the need to preserve space and not burden herself is much more apparent now so she only takes what she feels she will need. Animal skins and such may get picked up OOCly but wouldn't be in her inventory.

RE: In Your Bag - Dogberry - 07-16-2013

Good question!

Dogberry's bag usually contains at least three small items. The first is a small pipe, the second is a leather pouch containing moko grass and some matches, and the third is a piece of coral. As he doesn't have much gil, and doesn't think anyone is likely to rob him, he usually has all of his gil, which is usually less then a thousand.

From there it's full of whatever odds and ends he finds useful at the time. Rations and water if he's on a long trek, or stuff he can sell, or occasionally bricks when he wants a hard workout.

RE: In Your Bag - Sulie Spellouise - 07-16-2013

What... is in your character's bag?
Gyshal Greens to feed Lupi, Hungry Chocobos are sad Chocobos. Maple Logs for starting a fire, Some fine food for myself and of course a musical instrument for those lonely times.

What do they consider essentials for survival?
Wood, food and clean water.

What are their keepsakes that push them forward?
A small compass her father gave her to always find her way home

How much room is there for things to collect from the wild?
Plenty of room, however she prefers to carry several jars to put oddity in, so her pack is considered fragile.

How much Gil would they carry on their person?
No less than 400 however this would be tucked away all over her person so thieves wouldn't run off with everything.

If they have a chocobo they would haul...?
Blankets a tent and fishing pole, never know when you may need to camp.

What kind of things would they leave behind?
Bedding, dishes and minor things like that.

What would they discard that you currently keep?
Any left over fish and smokes.

RE: In Your Bag - Nox - 07-16-2013

Ooooo a fun thread.

What... is in your character's bag?
X'sato travels extremely lightly, and as such only carries a few days ration (extremely light rations at that) of no-perishable foods, a couple potions, a novel for when he's bored, and a few feet of cordage. He leaves much of the bag empty just in case.
What do they consider essentials for survival?
Other than food and water (both of which he could find out in the wild), he considers the decently sized knife he keeps on him at all times and the few feet of cordage to be essential. If he is ever separated from his spear (how rare that is), with the knife, cord and a branch; he can make a rough spear. A decent weapon can net you food and he can find water.
What are their keepsakes that push them forward?
He has a necklace that his parents gave him before he left to fight in the Holy war.
How much room is there for things to collect from the wild?
Plenty. Not enough to fit everything he might find on his travel, but enough to fit what he deems the most important.
How much Gil would they carry on their person?
Very Little. Much of his gil is left in his home, hidden.
If they have a chocobo they would haul...?
For being the son of a Chocobo merchant, he doesn't own a Chocobo.
What kind of things would they leave behind?
Most of his gil, casual clothing, non-essentials.
What would they discard that you currently keep?
90% of the trash loot. X'sato is only really interested in crafting armor on the side, so he doesn't really have a need to carry around so many animal pelts or anything like that.

RE: In Your Bag - Momoji Momochi - 07-16-2013

Heinrich carries the following things with him in his backpack:

1) A small jug of sting brew. The stuff is useful for getting rid of large insectoid pests before setting up camp or logging, and for drinking.
2) A full water skin.
3) Bandages.
4) Gysahl Greens. He chews the stuff. If it is good for a chocobo, it must be good for me.
5) Some jerky and trail rations.
6) A large survival knife.
7) A hatchet.
8) Needle and thread.
9) Flint and steel.
10) 50 feet of silk rope.
11) A bar of soap.

Since he typically ventures into the wilderness to log, he doesn't have any gil on him. If travelling, he keeps a small bag of gil stashed in the darkest depths of his pack along with one change of clothes. He would also include a bedroll and blanket.

RE: In Your Bag - Y'hmir - 07-16-2013

I want in too! =3

What... is in your character's bag?
L'ohke is a bit of a hoarder so his bag would be filled to the brim with useless crap, together with important stuff.

What do they consider essentials for survival?
A waterskin, some dried rations and a beat up, small children's book. Some nuts and berries for chewing on when rations and food are scarce. He tries to keep everything he can use for some minor alchemy in a seperate place.

What are their keepsakes that push them forward?
No keepsakes, he is always saying he will go back there some day.

How much room is there for things to collect from the wild?
Never enough. It's a medium sized bag and he don't carry much of personal value but when you pick up things like a 'funny shaped bone'...

How much Gil would they carry on their person?
A few houndred, enough for a decent meal and a bed.

If they have a chocobo they would haul...?
No. Imagine all the crap he could collect then.

What kind of things would they leave behind?
Nothing. He fill the sack to the brim and then spend several agonizing hours trying to decide what he can do without.

What would they discard that you currently keep?
Nothing. But perishable food would be the first to go when he actually have to throw things away.

RE: In Your Bag - PerkPrincess - 07-16-2013

Oh god yes I love prompts!

Rita is a fairly robust and tough world wanderer, so...

Paerlwyn "Rita" Guldbloewyn's Inventory

Adventurer's Backpack
A large backpack slung over Rita's shoulders, filled to the brim with required essentials.
  • A flask
  • Flint and Steel
  • A small assortment of tea leaves
  • A small bowl and matching grinder, well worn from use.
  • An aged tea infuser
  • Bed Roll
  • An assortment of maps
  • 50 Feet of Rope, coiled up to be compact
  • A few light cooking pots
  • Waterskin
  • A small calligraphy set
  • A few leather backed journals and books, in various degrees of completion
  • Hunting knives
  • A steamy romance novel or two

Satchel Bag
Hanging from her shoulder, this bag is very rarely parted from Rita. She usually keeps it on her at all times, carrying smaller items inside.
  • Up to three journal books can often be stashed inside. They share similiar qualities as those present in her backpack. One is always present however, and is much smaller, able to neatly fit into both her palms when open.
  • Wrapped charcoal
  • Waterskin
  • A Dagger

On Her Immediate Person
Items either present on her body, pockets or otherwise stashed on her
  • Two daggers
  • Her greataxe
  • Coin Purse, strung into a low hanging necklace that neatly hides the bag in her cleavage and away from prying eyes.
  • Traveling clothes and armour

What are their keepsakes that push them forward?
Rita constantly keeps her journals near her person at all times. She is constantly filling them with tidbits during her travels. The pages within detail things as simple as sketches, to full blown and detailed maps. When each book is completed, she places them in order of completion in a safe and secure place.

She one day plans to compile them together into a legible autobigoraphy in her eldest years.

How much room is there for things to collect from the wild?
She's got enough to keep any trinkets or a weapon or two in her travels, if on foot. She is prone to detail locations of things she cannot immediately take with her in her journals, however, and will make a return trip if she thinks it's appropriate.

How much Gil would they carry on their person?
She tries to keep at least enough for a full week's worth of bed and food.

If they have a chocobo they would haul...?
If she has access to a Chocobo, Rita would not really change her inventory management much, outside of leaving her heavier things on the bird when she is on foot acting as a ranger.

What kind of things would they leave behind?
Out of her possessions, the items in her backpack are the least value to her. If it came down to it, she is willing to drop the backpack. But she will fight tooth and nail for her satchel, for her own reasons.

RE: In Your Bag - Gerik - 07-16-2013

Eva I stole your template, don't be mad! I was being lazy.

What... is in your character's bag?
Trash
Pastries
Miscellaneous Snacks
Leaves
More trash
A sketchbook
Probably a few small rocks too

What do they consider essentials for survival?
Gerik doesn't really plan, he kinda just goes out... unprepared

What are their keepsakes that push them forward?
He has a sketchbook

How much room is there for things to collect from the wild?
If it's tasty, he'll find a way to manage to carry it.

How much Gil would they carry on their person?
He has an allowance every week, it's a good-sized amount. Mostly he spends it on food.

If they have a chocobo they would haul...?
His chocobo is dead ;;

What kind of things would they leave behind?
He doesn't really have a lot in terms of material possessions, but he keeps a box of sentimental items.

Your list reminds me of what my DnD characters carry around.

For myself.
What... is in your character's bag?
Outside of the cities he carries a fair-sized pack. In it is A loose assortment of tools (small file, chisel, A knife, bent glass for magnification, chalk, coal, sheaf of paper in a roll, spyglass, 6ilm chord with a knot every ilm). Two waterskins. Dodo-tack, raisins and short-bread cookies. Some dried Tea leaves, a mug, an empty Jar or two for specimens and a rope about 20-feet of Hemp.
What do they consider essentials for survival?
The spyglass, and raisins are important, he's used to living on little though.
What are their keepsakes that push them forward?
The sheaf of paper, or specimen jars, when actually containing drawings, writings, objects or critters are nearly invaluable to him.
How much room is there for things to collect from the wild?
He prefers to take small samples and sketch/record anything too large or fragile to disturb.
How much Gil would they carry on their person?
A fair amount, a few hundred, used to requiring the purchase of information from locals about out of the way places to go, as well as feeding his Chocobo.
If they have a chocobo they would haul...?
When bringing his Chocobo along he often attaches a saddle bag to one side and a few cages/bags to the other, in the saddle he'll store a tarp to throw over wherever they choose to settle if it rains, some extra food, water and some extra specimen jars. The bags and cages are for live samples or items for trade.
What kind of things would they leave behind?
He prefers to leave things alone, only taking "discard" or threatened objects that won't last in the wild

RE: In Your Bag - Merri - 07-16-2013

What... is in your character's bag?
A small amount of food, his non-primary linkpearls (wears his Blue Skies pearl in one ear, and a private pearl in the other.), a small portable toolkit (For his Magitek Engineering), which includes several vials/containers of Ceruleum. He also carries a few Magitek gadgets, such as flashbangs and ropeless grappling hooks (Which he also carries in his belt. Tried to link videos, but you can't seem to tie youtube videos to text. Both are totally canon from 1.0~) Above all else, he carries empty containers and a small extraction tool for harvesting Ceruleum in the case of an emergency.

What do they consider essentials for survival?
Water and food, naturally. Also his portable toolkit and spare vials of Ceruleum for any emergency maintenance his arm might require in the field. He also carries a few spares of the more crucial components in case anything breaks down. As mentioned above, he always has a small extraction tool for harvesting small amounts of Ceruleum in case of emergencies.

What are their keepsakes that push them forward?
Endemerrin only carries one real item of great personal value to him, which is kept on his prosthetic's ring finger at all time.

How much room is there for things to collect from the wild?

Enough for anything of real value, so long as it is relatively small in size. He does not bother with hides and meats.

How much Gil would they carry on their person?
That's no one's business but his own~

If they have a chocobo they would haul...?
He doesn't use his Chocobo for much outside of travel. He has another pack beast for hauling heavy objects as needed.

What kind of things would they leave behind?

He'd bring a full toolkit if he could, but the amount and size of some tools would prove far too hindering in his adventuring. He'd also carry more gadgets, but chooses to stick to the essentials.

What would they discard that you currently keep?
Pretty much everything. At most, he keeps any Magitek or unique materials he finds (or steals from the Garleans) while out in the field.
