The Arcanist Guild - Gossamer - 03-05-2013

So, I've been reading around and it looks like there was an Arcanist Guild located in Limsa Lominsa that was not joinable in 1.0? Does anyone have any information about that organization gleaned from 1.0? I'm just wondering if it might give some more insight into how Arcanists might work lore-wise.

I'm planning my main to be an Arcanist (I have a soft spot for any summoning-type class) and am working on his backstory and character concept...Well, as much as I can with that small blurb about them on the main website. XD

In 1.0, the Arcanists' Guild was in charge of customs and inspections for all of Limsa Lominsa's incoming goods. Only those proven to have some sort of obscure "gift" were permitted to join the inspectors.

How that pertains to summoning is yet to be known.

Most arcanist NPCs in 1.0 carried mechanical staffs. The class will carry books in ARR.

Why they changed is yet to be known.

And that's about all that is provable about them.

Thanks for the info! I'll be interested to see just how those changes get introduced/explained in the game (if they are in the first place).

Thankfully, I'm not doing anything too specific with arcanists for his background. Just focusing on the whole summoning Carbuncle as a familiar from gems thing. Assuming we can do that at low levels, I'm going to use that as a starting point to get him into studying other types of magic/abilities that encompass being an arcanist.
