Hildebrand questline - Riven - 10-10-2015

I may start this up tonight, and I have heard many...interesting things about it.

On a scale of 1-10, how much should I be prepared to boggle at my screen, laugh, or just go WTF

RE: Hildebrand questline - Zetchryn - 10-10-2015

On a scale from 1-10?

11.

RE: Hildebrand questline - Steel Wolf - 10-10-2015

Nothing can prepare you.

Truly.

RE: Hildebrand questline - Kellach Woods - 10-10-2015

On a scale of 1-10?

10 for the first questline, off the charts for the rest.

I find myself slightly afraid and intrigued even more now.

You will learn the secret of life.

You will forget it in your laughter.

Bring a drink with you at your own risk, Riven!

RE: Hildebrand questline - Candor - 10-10-2015

The Hildebrand quest line only proves that SE hasn't forgotten how to tell a fantastic story. It's both wonderfully rewarding and frustrating, in that you'll wonder why the same effort hasn't been put into the rest of the game's plots.

RE: Hildebrand questline - Seye Qhesu - 10-10-2015

Some people like the story and others dont. I personally loved it and the fact they made it like a tv series. If you enjoy a good and funny story with plenty of stick humor then you will love the quests.

RE: Hildebrand questline - Jonexe - 10-10-2015

Personally I found most of it boring and annoying. Half the quests are you running from one place to another while actually doing nothing. The trials you end up doing are great, and there's a couple funny moments; but overall I found it quite dull.

It is certainly, though, one of those things where you either like that style of humor and story telling or you don't.

Yeah. It's one of those things that most people seem to absolutely love or absolutely hate. To put it differently...it's a lot like Haurchefant - decent enough and with some good moments but blown vastly out of proportion in regards to how amazing it is by some very vocal portions of the community.

There's some very interesting bits of lore hidden away in the quest chain, though - and as Jonexe says the trials that are unlocked are pretty fun. Yet the humour is very goofy, repetitive and slapstick - and isn't going to be to everybody's tastes. I didn't really like it but I pushed through it since I'm a bit of a perfectionist.

RE: Hildebrand questline - -no longer matters- - 10-14-2015

I adore these quests! It reminds me of a FFXiV version of Lupin III.

If you like silly anime, you'll love them. If you don't like silly you won't.

Personally I hope they find some way to give us more.

I hope we get a mount from that quest line.
Also how they left it hanging there definatly will be more.

If you think about it, the way the questline ended is perfect for a Heavensward sequel.

The Hildibrand quests can be really funny much of the time, but most of the time spent between amusing cutscenes is generally tedious running around between person A and point B and back and forth.

Some of the crazy facial expressions they use for the Hildibrand cutscenes remind me of old Garry's Mod YouTube videos from the mid-late 2000's.
