Music in foreign languages - Maril - 03-25-2015 Do you ever listen to something that isn't in your native language or English? I've got a few bands/artists I like listening to even though I have no idea what they are singing about (unless I've looked up a translated version of the lyrics). One of the bands I listen to like this is Oomph: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuLPJg2gwjQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgnlrxbkxY8 I really like their music. I do know a /bit/ of German, but it's extremely rusty and more like "Hey that's a word I know. Nice word! Yeah!". They've redone some of their songs in English but I vastly prefer them in German. Here are a few! (And my guilty pleasure of KPOP. /shameless) RE: Music in foreign languages - cuideag - 03-25-2015 Gonna skip the Japanese stuff since it's not really a foreign language in my house :S EDIT: I LIED I have to share Nujabes. RE: Music in foreign languages - Tokki - 03-25-2015 I love Korean pop music. <3 Epic ballads can be epic. Some of my characters 'theme songs' happen to be kpop songs. I also love jrock/pop. RE: Music in foreign languages - Qhora Bajihri - 03-25-2015 French doesn't really count as foreign here, either. They did this one in English, but I prefer the Franglais version. RE: Music in foreign languages - Roen - 03-25-2015 Ojos Asi The reason why attached Shakira to Brynnalia so many years ago. But likely this is not such a foreign language for many. Edit: one more! Figlio Perduto I used this song to write a post for Roen long ago. It's more her style. RE: Music in foreign languages - Marisa - 03-25-2015 Well, despite the fact that most of the bands I listen to are European, almost all power metal is done in English. However, a couple of them like to do songs in their native languages.  And of course, it would be unjust of me to not mention Rhapsody.  RE: Music in foreign languages - C'kayah Polaali - 03-25-2015 Mmmhmm... RE: Music in foreign languages - Raih Nelhah - 03-25-2015 I think I'll add Oomph! to my list of bands to listen to... For foreign languages, I prefer them over my native language because I can completely ignore the lyrical aspect and just get engrossed in the sound. I'm not one for the meaning behind lyrics and just love getting a 'feel' for the music through instrumental alone. (Which is why my mainstay for music is mostly electronic) Not understanding the words they're speaking kinda adds to that in a way. RE: Music in foreign languages - DreamedReality - 03-25-2015 I liked the Mozart L'Opera Rock album Ziroq is good Mediaeval Baebes is love. They do songs in many languages. And non languages. Like this one: RE: Music in foreign languages - Sophia_Grave - 03-27-2015 I've got a real soft spot for boogaloo, which is something like Latin... R&B and pop? All rolled into one: RE: Music in foreign languages - Aya - 03-27-2015 Soooo often. I love music in any language. This is one of my fave non-English sounds (though sadly most of their music these days is in English). [Gaelic... Finnish.. German, French, Russian, Japanese.. I love music in so many different languages! ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMBWl-gSIJ4 RE: Music in foreign languages - Erik Mynhier - 03-27-2015 I like Icelandic, sometimes German and French. I guess as per the op, stating "music not in your native language" I guess music in english would count too. RE: Music in foreign languages - ChewableMorphine - 03-27-2015 Well, to contribute my two cents
