RE: Back to Gridania (Open RP) - KieairaKitty - 10-18-2013

Kieaira swallowed hard, swallowing down her fear. She hated ... and I mean -hated- thunderstorms, but right now was not the time to be cowering. She looked towards the tent where Lorielle and Tobias had disappeared too and wrinkled her nose, though why would remain unknown as she finished piling the carts, leaving just a small entryway into the cart.

"I.. I'll stay here." She said unrolling one of the sleeping bags in the back of the cart, another shiver trembling down her spine. The soft pitter patter against the cover of the cart began ... the rain was coming, slowly at first, but it would soon pick up.

Before anyone could object, she slid down into the sleeping bag, shoes and all, and pulled the bag up to her nose, her eyes staring out into the darkness, though she could at least still see well, perhaps better than most of the others. The cart rocked gently but stayed strong, and she only hoped it would help lull to her sleep, but for now she would merely shiver beneath the sleeping bag, trying to warm up as quickly as she could.

RE: Back to Gridania (Open RP) - Nirri - 10-18-2013

His shoulders rolled back as the first drops of rain fell down onto the sand and the cart. The green eyes shifting to cautiously check the dark land before them, "How is Amal'jaa activity around these parts?" he asked Draeyn with a concerned tone.

The sleeping bag he got handed earlier by Lorielle still tucked under his arm as he turned around to fold it open across Kieara's sleeping bag with ease to provide her with more warmth. Why did you have to ask. Why ask about the Amal'jaa. Wasn't your first encounter not enough? His mind wandering between what the storm would bring along as a method to make this trip even more hellish then it already was.

The sound of the two chocobo's alerting him to look over in their direction but the heavy rain only showing the shapes of the chocobo's and a single small eft scurrying inbetween them clearly having made a few steps in it's scurrying in fear due to the thunder striking down as a hammer on an anvil.

RE: Back to Gridania (Open RP) - K'nahli - 10-18-2013

Amadi saw his chance. Charging forth from the shadows, he made directly for the elezen female who had been momentarily isolated from the group, immediately hooking his arms under hers and linking his hands together behind her head. The highlander's large build was an almost guaranteed assurance that she would not easily escape his grasp unaided. He let out a brazen laugh as he found amusement in the female's startled reaction as she naturally struggled against her unseen assailant.

"Save your energy, lass. Last thing you want to do is piss off my little friend here.... he has quite the temperament" a midlander advised the young female as he strolled casually into view. He, like his larger companion, was wearing a rain cloak, the hood of which concealed most of his facial features until he drew closer. His beady, green eyes glimmered like those of a serpent's out from beneath the shadow that cast across his face by the hood. A scar traversing across his right eye was the only distinguishing feature visible to the girl.

The rain quickly descended upon them from the darkening sky above. The strong winds caused the rain to lash heavily against the men's cloaks and the exposed female, almost immediately soaking her through and likely placing her in further discomfort. Visibility decreased noticeably, much to the disadvantage of the travelers, some of whom may yet still not be fully aware of their friend's predicament(if any at all). Tarquin drew closer to the female, placing his face within breathing distance of hers, both in an attempt to intimidate her and to ensure that she heard him clearly over the howling wind.

"How about you introduce us to your friends, eh?"
he said with a smirk before raising his eyes to meet with those of Almadi's. He gestured with his head, instructing for him to proceed closer towards the caravan with their captive. The highlander nodded in understanding and proceeded forwards, forcing the female along with him as he continued to retain her in a lock. Tarquin followed alongside, lagging a little behind as he strutted with confidence towards their targets - brimming with confidence and the feeling of total control.

RE: Back to Gridania (Open RP) - Lorielle Sylwood - 10-19-2013

As Lorielle began to leave the tent, she was greeted by rain falling harshly down upon her head.  Tobias took off ahead of her, heading towards the cart.  She had hardly taken one step after him when something swept up beneath her arms and forced them back.  Something rested hard against the back of her head, but she had enough room to turn her head shortly.

Just as she did, a face came closer to hers, speaking in a hushed tone near her ear.  If she screamed at the top of her lungs, she would be heard even over the wind and rain.  But she feared what would come of it.  As they began walking, her being forced ahead, she found her feet were still very much free.

She could easily swing up her legs, drawing them into her chest.  Then she could throw them back, throwing her heels full force into her captor's groin.  However, there was no guarantee that this would cause him to release her.  Any form of rebellion would likely get her killed, or killed faster.

Her turquoise eyes gleamed with feral anger, her adrenaline boiling as they neared the caravan where the others stood.  Save it, she thought to herself.  Save that adrenaline for when it's needed.

She was soaked to the bone, the rough handling from her captor causing long strands of her hair to fall over her shoulders and cling to her skin.  There was something burning behind her eyes.  Her face was solid as a rock until she could see her fellow travelers inside of the caravan.  Suddenly her thoughts of freeing herself and beating the life from her captor fled her.  Her mind was bent with worry for the strangers she had come to take as her companions.

She looked up at them with wide, pleading eyes.  Escape, she wanted to tell them.  Get out of here and escape.  Do not do what they tell you, whether they have a hostage or not.  But in the short time she had come to know them, she felt they were stubborn enough no to listen to her.

RE: Back to Gridania (Open RP) - Nirri - 10-19-2013

Clavier stepped forward as Lorielle appeared before him with arms forcing her in position. The black steel of his sword being revealed as it was pulled from the sheeth, in the night it would almost seem as if he was holding nothing but the drops slipped down along the blade and hilt. The lightning being reflected in it - "Are you okay, Lorielle?"

By the tone of his voice it becomes audible that he was worried for her well being due her current predicament she found herself in at the hand of the highlander. Another huge flash accompanied by the thunder revealing most of the people in the vicinity of the caravan, everyone not within shelter by now soaked.

RE: Back to Gridania (Open RP) - Tobias Nightbringer - 10-19-2013

Tobias travels a fulm and two ilms at best before he hears the sudden guffaw of a stranger at his back. The Midlander stops mid-stride as hands rest on his pouch and belt while he stands with back turned to Lorielle and the two men that began to talk to her. The howling wind would unfortunately deafen the words of the cloaked Midlander, so Tobias would not be able to hear what was being said as the skies darkened quite quickly and almost suddenly. The decreased visibility was indeed a disadvantage to the traveler's--but the disadvantage worked both ways.

The flash of light reveals his back to the strangers for a second, though alert of their approach. If any movements the Hyur could have been made out, due to the darkening sky and sudden hail of rain, it would only be a shift in his forearm before it drops casually to his side. Eyes close briefly with a silent sigh as Clavier steps forward from the caravan.

Tobias was the closest to Lorielle as he turns face to the two men even after Clavier moved forward. The raven-haired Hyur stares at the two men. A Highlander and Midlander. Tobias' eyes were completely hidden from rain, darkness, and color of hues alone as he sizes them. However, thoroughly soaked yet not a sign of disturbance shown, Tobias the Midlander gives the other Midlander, whom was behind Lorielle, a curt nod as words this time seem to speak louder than actions, "You are overdue. It would prove arduous to mollify Gens Caelius if he were to ascertain such lackadaisical efforts." the sudden authoritative tone with a resounding bass cuts through wind and rain like blade cuts through flesh.

Fifty yalms.

RE: Back to Gridania (Open RP) - KieairaKitty - 10-19-2013

Kieaira was buried between two sleeping bags at this point, just the tips of her white ears showing, but she could hear someone talking ... it sounded like Tobias. The howl of the wind and the patter of the rain against the cloth caravan cover were drowning out what he was saying, but she assumed it wasn't directed at her.

She pulled the sleeping bags closer as another roll of thunder shook the cart, causing a soft, and most likely unheard, whimper to escape past her thin lips. Her entire body was trembling, and she still didn't even know anything was wrong, save for the storm.

RE: Back to Gridania (Open RP) - K'nahli - 10-19-2013

"What's this?!" the midlander retorted as he let out an astounded laugh, an insult to Tobias' courageous defiance towards the mens' appearance.

Tarquin quickly drew his sword, throwing it swiftly off to his side as it came to meet with Lorielle's neck at a dangerous speed. He pressed the blade firmly against her vulnerable throat, enough to trouble the girl's breathing but not so hard as to cause bleeding.

"You best choose your fights more wisely, lad" Tarquin sneered as a bolt of lightning illuminated the grave scene, followed shortly by a clap of thunder that acted almost as an emphasis of the reality of the man's pending threat.

"...'lest you want to see your lady-friend here paint the dirt red" he added with a darker, more serious tone as his expression formed into that of a grimace, feeling almost offended by the man's arrogance.

RE: Back to Gridania (Open RP) - Nirri - 10-19-2013

The second the blade was drawn by Tarquin, Clavier took no hesistance in stepping forward a bit with his left hand raised to beckon the men to stop. "Hey.. No! Don't. What you two want?!", this time he shouted more to get above the sound of the raging thunder striking downward. The black sword in his right hand being lowered abit to the ground as if trying to put the two men at ease.

RE: Back to Gridania (Open RP) - Lorielle Sylwood - 10-19-2013

Lorielle strained against the blade, parting her lips and testing just how much she could expand her throat without causing herself harm.

"Don't listen to them," she said softly, her bright eyes cut narrow.  At this moment, she felt more angry than afraid.  How dare someone take her hostage.  If she was given a chance to release her pent up adrenaline, she might have broken their jaws with her staff.

She did not fear death.  She never had.  Her life was of little concern to her.  Her body was merely a tool to her mind to go out and do her bidding and help others.  Her body could die but her deeds would live on.

"Just run."

RE: Back to Gridania (Open RP) - K'nahli - 10-19-2013

Tarquin lowered his blade, allowing it to hang readily by his side as he took a quick stride towards their captive. He gripped Lorielle's jaw firmly with his fingers and thumb which served as a clamp, digging roughly into her soaked cheeks with a pincer-like grip as he held her head still before him, bringing his face in close once again to address her sharply. Amadi remained ever-vigil however. His unrelenting gaze fixated upon the silhouettes of the other passengers who continued to be bombarded by the heavy rain, ready to respond to any move they dared make while his leader had his back turned.

"I liked you better when ya were silent, lassie" Tarquin spat at her menacingly before releasing his grip with a rough jerk. He spared the elezen no mercy for her humble plea, little did he fear that they would actually accept her terms however. Tarquin swiftly raised his hand, delivering a harsh strike across the woman's face to serve as reminder of her position in this situation before returning his glare to the onlookers, slowly raising his sword back up to the woman's neck. This time however, barely making contact with her skin.

His eyes fell upon Clavier, the male.. the archer who had requested to know their intentions. Tarquin raised his chin smugly as he prepared to speak, though his expression remained solid and aggressive.

"If ye all behave yerselves then you might just be rid of us no lesser off than how we found ye. Minus yer cargo there of course..."

Tarquin studied Clavier intently for a short moment, pressing his lips lightly together as his glance (moved towards the bow that was strapped against his body?).

" 'fore that..." he began as he withdrew his weapon from Lorielle's neck and instead began pointing it towards the archer.

"Lay down your bow... slowly.." he instructed firmly, his gaze briefly breaking away from the man at this point as he began scanning the area. He had counted two additional travelers earlier, yet now they were missing from view.

RE: Back to Gridania (Open RP) - Tobias Nightbringer - 10-19-2013

Tobias makes no visible sign of reaction as Lorielle was struck. He watches and listens to both sides. From Tarquin's demands to Lorielle's plea for them to 'just run'. That thought alone only helps assist the Hyur as another boisterous laughter breaks through after Tarquin. Hidden eyes still yet to leave the form of the other Midlander.

"I atone," the black-hair man begins as he slowly raises his arms out and up, "it appears that I embarrass my person in the presumption that you were here in the abetment of subterfuge of these fine travelers." Ever since Tobias began to talk to the men, his speech was 'unique'. His words, odd in selection. His dialect not native to Ul'dah, Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, or anywhere else near those lands.

The Hyur would assume if anyone could determine the origin of his sudden accent, it would have been the green-eyed archer. "But instead," Tobias continues as he slowly walks backwards towards Clavier, "I find merely feeble bandits. Only after the cargo." If there had been a flash of lightning, they would clearly see a smirk that would ooze a feeling of 'superiority' over the men. "So allow me to make one self very clear that even your imbecilic Highlander can understand." words pointedly spoken to the one known as Amadi while Tobias stands now next to Clavier.

"I. Am. Garlean." Tobias enunciates every syllable pointedly as to make sure he was heard. Suddenly the Midlander strikes in a swift left hook--into Clavier's gut. As the archer buckles over, Tobias quickly bends down with Clavier to wrest the blade from his hand and pulls the jacket that adorns the branded man.

After Tobias disarms and disrobes Clavier, he pushes the exposed Hyur towards Amadi and Tarquin, but not close enough to be struck by either men. "So, if you have not taken notice yet, opportunity fortunes you gentlemen. You can do right, by the abetment of the Empire, and never spend another moon out in this miserable cold with Gil that lines your every pouch, or..." he pauses to let the previous statement linger, "you can spend every conscious bell peering over your shoulder until the inevitable finds you. And drives the life slowly from your lungs."

The change in Tobias' demeanor from the norm was that of something more...sinister, taunting even. "Turn so these fine fellows may see the marking on your backside. Clavier, was it? Accommodate these folks as to why you have been branded." With Clavier's sword in hand, the turncoat Hyur taps the flat side of his blade leisurely against his leg.

This game of subterfuge was more than risky. It was probably downright stupid. A risk that could pay in dividends. Forty yalms.

RE: Back to Gridania (Open RP) - A'sih - 10-19-2013

(Yeesh.. I was away for a day or two and come back to pages upon pages or posts O.O. Yeah, my weekends are pretty packed in schedule. Just impliment somewhere in here that X'ahce just left the caravan and walked to Gridania. I just don't have the time on the weekends to keep up with all the posts, no offense of course! I like the roleplay, but I can't manage it. Sorry D: )

RE: Back to Gridania (Open RP) - Nirri - 10-20-2013

A gasp escaped the man as he buckled over due the sudden impact in his gut, the black blade easily being pulled from his hand as he tried to regain a decent breathing pattern still weakened due to the earlier injuries substained in the battle with the toxic toad. His expression turning into almost full hatred as he glared at Tobias while being pushed forward.

"What the hell is this?" he barked at Tobias,

Clavier's upper body glistening as it gets soaking wet in a matter of seconds. The brand of the Garlemand flag visible to both men that had taken a hold over Lorielle, his fingertips nervously rubbing together as if trying to figure out what to say exactly. A lie or a full on truth.

"Fine. I used to be soldier for Garlean. Part of Gaius legion that normally stands firm over Ala Mhigo. But I deserted after we were ordered to round up a bunch of citizens and execute them for stealing food. In turn I was found and they decided to rather let me live but with a brand that would mark my wrongdoings as a soldier for Garlean. Making it impossible for me to make any sort of connection to anyone. I gave up a beautifull life because I couldn't handle a simple killing."

During his words his speaking becomes more hushed but still audible above the clattering rain and thunder. The anger of Tobias betrayal still there in his tone, his head turning to look at both men, his feet digging into the wet sand.

Kieaira's ears, the only thing visible above the double sleeping bags, twitched as she tried to make out what those around her were saying. Another loud crash of thunder and another whimper passed her lips as she tightened her grip on the sleeping bags. It's just a storm.... It's just a storm...  She took a deep breath, and lowered the sleeping bag, crawling out from under it, and crawling towards the boxes that kept her hidden inside the cart.

She peeked out between two of the crates to see why everyone was still chatting and not rushing off to the tent. Her eyes widen and she had to slap her hands over her mouth to keep from gasping out loud as she saw the man whom held a blade to Lorielle. What do I do? What do I do? What do I do? She bit down on her lower lip nervously, as she looked around the cart ... What could she do?!

Finally, an idea struck her, slowly she pushed herself up on her knees and placed the palms of her hands on the top box, which was small enough and light enough for her to pick up easily. In one swift movement she grabbed the box and threw it as fast and hard as she could, hoping that wherever it landed it would distract the man enough that someone could step in and either free Lorielle, or Lorielle could at least free herself.

Kieaira ducked down as soon as the box left her hands, not wanting to be seen by these men, she wasn't a fighter, wasn't a healer ... and she did not want to become a burden either.
